Norway 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Caspian Blue

Is this a joke? Shocked
Seriously, the car had practically no speed on almost flat ground. On this road I would have speeded up not even concidering braking. But then again, I have winther tyres. This car must have had summer tyres.

Seriously guys, is this how you drive, -what you experience in the UK when there is a little bit of the white stuff on the ground? Please tell me this is a joke, or was just constructed for TV.

If not, we have seriouly got to re-discuss the impact of using summer-tyres vs. winther-tyres. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Problem is it's not worth buying winter tyres here for the 3 or 4 days you actually get snow on the roads.

I thought the standard tyres on the FL2 were M+S rated, I know they're not winter tyres, but I would have thought they help a little in the snow/ice.

Also, down a slight hill, in ice, shouldn't you have grass/gravel/snow setting, and could possibly have hill descent in use, to keep the car under control?

I agree Viking, we are rubbish, but then again, as others say, we don't exactly get much practice. And buying specific winter tyres is probably not much use, as tomorrow, it will probably be +10 rahter than -3, and then they'd be the wrong tyre.

What may also be the problem, is that people are using tyres that are too worn down for the summer, let alone the winter. I've seen a few pics of smashed cars, where speed was to blame, and they've pointed out that the tyres were completely worn, so the driver had no hope, at any speed in the wet.

We really should have some better driver training, that would help. As viking said, why try to brake then, a little throttle, to get the car straight, then slow down, there was nothing in front of them.

Probably also due to a lack of understanding of how a 4x4 actually operates in slippery conditions. All vehicles slide when it's icy, 4x4 or not. ______________________
