Reduced Engine Performance

Hi All,

I have a slight issue with my FL2 and have searched the forums but not come up with anything...

On occasion, with no real pattern, the FL2 goes into reduced engine performance when I start the car. Sometimes it is after a long run, sometimes it is when cold. No pattern to outside temperature, engine temp or anything else.

No MIL, and never happens while actually driving.

I turn the engine off, wait a second, then restart and everything is back to normal.

Additionally, in the last few days it has also developed an almost imperceptible stutter when hold low speeds at approximately 2000rpm. It is barely noticeable but there and goes away as soon as I put any power though. No idea if it is related.

I have checked for fault codes when the warning is displayed and there are no codes stored...

Anyone got any ideas? Without any codes, I don't want to take it to the garage for the pick n mix style of component replacement "repairs" Smile 2007 FL2 2.2 TD4 SE in Sumatra Black Pearl

You reckon that's all it is? No as it would get fuel starvation when driving but if not done in years its worth doing along any other service items overdue. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

fuel filter done. Still got the issue described above.

But what bothers me more is this intermittent reduced engine performance issue.

Now.... any ideas what the issue might be? 2007 FL2 2.2 TD4 SE in Sumatra Black Pearl

Not a lot to go on. Maybe a more upmarket code reader could help.

Have you the extra earth lead ?

Do a hard reset possibly and ensure your battery is fit for porpoise (something fishy going on Rolling Eyes ) FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I cured my reduced performance with the fuel filter change - hence my question!
Are you using supermarket fuel? That can gunge things up and cause problems - maybe a can of Wynns might help?
Apart from that it could be any number of things - I agree with Bob get it checked for codes by an Indy or LR dealer No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

So, plugged the car into a more advanced diagnostic and had 27 EGM codes! All were pointing to a faulty MAF sensor. So replaced that.

Took it for a rag and had some really unpleasant noises that sounded turbo related.

Lo and behold..... Turbo Underboost code

Boost pipe

Bryn, I had exactly the same problem develop this week. Slight hesitation around 2000 revs. Also, started to hear not a hiss or whistle, but a soft "raspberry" under acceleration. Suddenly got a bit worse today, on way home of 40 mile round trip. Engine light came on, but no great performance loss. Had a look, and the hose into the inlet manifold, has a split about 1" long.
I think a new hose and reset will put it right.

I had also the same problem, some exstra winding from the turbo at 1800_2000 rpm and using more fuel. Used" racing tape" over the split in the tube while i was waiting for the new tube and that was ok. Used some time to fit the new tube !
