United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Thankyou. I haven't played with the Commandshift so hopefully that will be the answer.
Yes, a transmission fluid change is a must I agree, and Haldex oil change.
I chatted to a guy on the service desk yesterday and I was surprised at one thing he said. After covering various topics on servicing I asked how much would they charge just for a Haldex unit oil & filter change, having already been quoted £75 by the local independen garage.
He replied, "oh we don't do that. They don't need doing. I've been here 18 months and I've never been asked to do that, it's not a service item" or words to that effect.
I disagreed (based only on what I've read) but he was adamant. I wonder if his view is like the one where they say some transmissions are sealed for life and need no maintenance even though there are service kits availabie for them.
A bit disconcerting to say the least.

Haldex on LR are supposed to be a sealed for life unit, they are the only manufacturer that uses Haldex that say that. Every other one (VW/AUDI for example) recommend Haldex filter and fluid service every 50k I think.

certainly wont hurt to have it done, there is a site sponsor on here (Austen @ Bell Engineering) who does haldex, gearbox and differential service or replacement and he is highly recommended. Based in West Midlands.

Hi Gang,
Newbie on here, looking at buying my first LR.
It's a Freelander 2 HSE with 85k miles on a 10 plate.
Auto with leather. Asking price 9K.
Looks like its got lots of toys onboard, I love the look of it.
What should I look out for, are there any obvious expense I could be heading for?
Hope I can call for a test drive tomorrow.
Any help will be very very welcome.
I'm encouraged by going through a few threads on here, that its a good purchase.
Cheers,

Keith

Hi Keith
You are not alone in asking what to look out for. You may not be surprised, but the question has been asked many times before! All the info you need is already here. You say you have "gone through a few threads on here". That is the best thing. Go to "General". Scan down the thread titles page by page looking for similar questions. The most recent, I believe, is "What to look out for". Try that.

I have the exact same model and year with 79k miles. It is my second Freelander 2. In the 6 years I have owned them, other than services and wear & tear items, I have had the following issues: Seized calliper; Tailgate latch; crankshaft oil leak; Haldex fault (software fix); fuel tank sender/wiring; key dock, throttle body. Others have had diff pinion bearing issues, but not mine. I have always had a LR branded extended warranty. Great cars, comfortable and enjoyable to drive.

Thanks very much for your reply Bob, much appreciated.
I took a short drive in the car today, its immaculate, faultless,
Need to see if the seller can sweeten the deal slightly. Its a big step up from my current car.
Good to find a great resource like this site

Cheers,
Keith

Hi everyone from Tenerife, Canary Islands

I was the happy owner of a FL1 before becoming the recently owner of a FL2 a little bit more than 1 month ago. My little beauty has a new engine, and it's all set up for I hope more than a one hundred thousand miles. I'm going to take good care of him towards that goal.

I live in the Canary Islands, I'm 36 years old and I'll be glad to be part of this community.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

I am new to Forum, although I had owned a 2010 XS SD4 for 5 years.

We liked it so much we have recently swapped it for a 2014 Metropolis.

The XS was White with 19 inch Diamond wheel, privacy glass, leather seats and roof spoiler, and after much searching I have acquired a Metropolis that looks identical, but a lot newer.

We went from 1900 to 80,000 miles in the XS without any major trouble, so fingers crossed that the Metro will be as trouble free.

I bought the Metro from a LR Dealer from quite a distance, without seeing it in the flesh. I was very pleased with the deal, the salesman, and the presentation of the car. It looks new with a current service, MOT, and 2 year warranty.

After contemplating buying a PHEV Outlander (and monitoring their forum) for a few years, I have decided to stick with Diesel and the Freelander.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Sumatra Black

Hello
I'm new to the forum and just popped my LR cherry.
Just over a week ago I bought a my07 fl gs td4 with 60k miles on it.
I'm pretty impressed with how it drives and feels on the road so far.
I'm even more impressed with the Wealth of information I've been able to gleam off of this forum.
Thanks Smile

Hello from a new F2 owner! Previously owned an F1, but now enjoying the sophistication of the HSE. Congratulations on such a well structured and useful forum.

I finally bought the car after a few issues had to be sorted out.
Paying for it was a nightmare as I had terrible trouble with HSBC transferring the funds.
I don't think the dealer made any money on it!
They fitted two brand new tyres, brand new front discs & pads, brand new throttle body, brand new EGR valve as well as a repair to the drivers seat, dent repairs and paint touch ups.
Together with a huge discount on a three year Inchcape dealer warranty I'm happy I got a good deal on this one.
Probably the most important part of the purchase though is that my Mrs actually likes it, and loves driving it.
If you knew my Mrs (who hates anything to do with cars normally) you'd understand what a big achievement that is! Thumbs Up
Hopefully here's some photo's of it:

Hi all, just had the freeby about 4 months, should have done it sooner lol. Had Classic and P38a Range Rovers, also got a 3.9 auto S2 Landy. Lots of fun but cost a small fortune in gas and petrol.
