Dog Guard Modification

Has anybody had to modify their FL2 dog guard (full height barrier and luggage divider) to prevent pooch climbing over the top (right hand corner) and into the cabin?

I'm a bit disappointed with the fit to say the least. As my border terrier is about fully grown it might be a problem that won't go away for some years so a mod is probably the only answer. It needs to look good though.

Feed the dog more!

Or a few of those extremely thick cable ties. They are pretty stiff if cut short & may stick out just far enough. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Not exactly what you asked about but we have a border terrier cross who is a bit of a pain , and not wanting a dog guard we use a seat belt extender buckle clipped to one of the tie rings in the boot and plug in a travel harness strap between it and the dog. This set up allows him to move about the boot a bit, but not over the seat or out the tailgate.

Tinytim:
Seems like a plan, thanks.

Lightwater:
I think my dog would like you. Sadly, feeding him more is not an option as he is at his breed standard weight and we are considering showing him. He will almost certainly be providing stud services too once he reaches a suitable age. Not good for a fatster. The cable tie idea might be an idea though, thanks.

i bought a cage, safer in the event of crash and roll over and the dog doesn't trample over the shopping bags

also when i had him and his best mate in they both tried getting past my LR dog guard so i had a spaniel half through the left side and a Dalmatian surprising quite far through the other Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Ive used the same Travell dog guard in all our FL2s. Also really useful as a luggage guard when its loaded to the roof with dive equipment.

Fits snug to the roof line. Only a very small dog could get past I think - certainly not my labs.
Easy to install and remove.

I've just got a Travall in the back of mine and seems to fit well and doesn't take long to either.

This is what I have... the gap is above the seat back barrier in both corners but because of the 'cage' only the right hand corner is a problem.

Land Rover do not specifically describe it as a dog guard - rather as a cargo barrier (LR002521) and a cargo divider (LR002522). For a slight bigger dog it would be perfect. Maybe I need to put one of those lamp shade collar thingies from the vet on him. That will wreck his Houdini aspirations.

These 12mm cable ties cut off 50mm long will be stiff enough to put off the dog trying to push past.

Or use double safety barriers like they do around dangerous equipment!
