Dead battery in MY07 i6 HSE

I've had some battery problems when my wife's old MY07 i6 HSE has stayed unused, especially in the cold. I jump started it with the help of another car, but the "engine" error light (below) doesn't go off. Could it be because the battery level is still low?

Some faults when logged disappear after a few starts, some stay displayed even after they have gone away.

A low battery can cause many faults to be generated far example if a sensor normally has a reading between 3V and 5V, but when the battery is flat it might read as low as 2V, this would be logged as a fault. When the car was started, the voltage would rise, but if the fault was in a sensor that was critical to the engine the fault would remain displayed.

The only answer is to get a cheap OBDII diagnostic tool, and clear the faults, any that return are likely to be genuine. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Had that on my sons car when it was left standing for some time. Was the emissions caused by stale petrol. Put some fresh fuel in and it disappeared soon after. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.
