Hi Stuart, I read your thread with interest since getting the car in Feb but hoped that IF Dr Dean had the full fit but it wasnt enabled (for some reason) then I too had the kit. I still cannot understand why the car would be fitted with the premium head unit and aerial but not the amp and module!! was it a case of LR not having all the bits at the time? The marketing info at the time, as well as the handbook clearly states that the Premium ICE included DAB.

Thanks forr your advice. Would a faulty part of the system stop it from cycling 'FM1,FM2,DAB1,DAB2' ?
Mine just cycles 'FM1,FM2' As a car without DAB would.

The aerial and amp are there as its a part of the FM loop. When DAB is fitted there is another part number for the arial which also includes the DAB circuitry. The DAB AMP part also has two Fakra plugs whereas the FM only has 1 Fakra plug.

I thought they were in the tailgate near the high level stop light in pre MY13 vehicles?
That's why I'm confused at why this early vehicle has an amp in the roof lining like later vehicles? MY15

Up to 2012MY:
FM antenna amplifier in the tailgate, connected to glass in the tailgate (totally separate)
DAB antenna amplifier in the left side roof cavity, connected to left rear window
These are complete separate circuits, cars without DAB have nothing connected to the left side window

2013MY onward:
FM antenna amplifier in the left side roof cavity, connected to left rear window OR
FM & DAB combined antenna amplifier in the left side roof cavity, connected to left rear window

So if you look at a 2012 or earlier car and there is a green amplifer connected to the left side rear window, it's DAB

But if you look at a 2013 onward car & there is a green amplifer connected to the left side rear window, it's FM

And if you look at a 2013 onward & car there is a grey amplifer connected to the left side rear window, it's FM & DAB 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

If you have all the DAB hardware present but no DAB functionality, I could imagine that it was built with DAB fitted but for some reason it was turned off / disabled.

I seem to recall some statements on another forum from around 2009 where FL2 owners were complaining about not getting DAB when they had ordered it. Or being charged extra for it and then refusing to pay, so it was disabled. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

As I mentioned to Cambo in my PM, I have two build sheets/vehicle summarys from both Topix and through the dealers warranty database and when on looking again at the Topix one today I see that it states "Analogue Audio Broadcast" (something I hadnt noted before) so it does seem as if some cars were built with the Premium DAB head unit but not fitted with DAB components. It would be interesting if I had one fitted with all the DAB equipment but not activated in the configuration??

"Analogue audio broadcast" refers to the main ICE harness, so regardless of equipment fitted, DAB ECU, activating in the CCF will not work I'm afraid. You wil need to add all the necessary wiring as per "Cambos" retrofit thread. MY15
