United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
Whining noise

I have a 2011 F2 TD4 XS and when I turn off the engine, there is a whiny noise from somewhere under the bonnet for about 30/45 seconds and then it disappears.
Now my neighbour has just bought a 2014 SD4 and his does the same, but only when he turns on the ignition!!!!
Any thoughts on either of these?
