recommended brake fluid?

what type of brake fluid to MY 07?

Brembo DOT 4
brembo DOT 4-LV (DOT 4-ESP) for modern car such as ABS, ESP, ASR, TCS, EBD systems

other manufactures?

Brembo DOT 4 is compaptible / mix whit DOT 3, i assume? Wife have chevrolet cruze, and owners manual says DOT 3.
Any tips =)?

Going to change both cars brake fluid if they use same fluid!

Dot 3, 4, and 5.1 are glycol ether based. They are compatible. but like motor oils, you should use the recommended or higher grade fluid, im not 100% sure....

DOT 3, 4, 5.1 will mix. The main differences are that each incremental dot number has a higher minimum standard for dry and wet boiling points. However you may find that for example a top end DOT 4 fluid surpasses some 5.1 fluids for performance. Currently, about the best DOT 4 fluid available is Brembo 660 RF. You do not need this in your Freelander : Thumbs Up

Stick with a good quality brand 4 or 5.1 , Shell, Castrol, Brembo, Motul , ELF , Prestone, some of these brands will even be manufactured in the same plant Laughing The main difference between these and the own brands from Discount Auto stores is that the glycols for the top brands are specific and sourced direct from the manufacturers , and those manufactured for the discount stores may use traded parcels of glycols obtained from any available source. That is not to say they do not meet the minimum DOT standard, just they are not premium brands also they may be made at the same toll manufacturing sites as the big brands.
Remember It is better to have cheap DOT 4 fluid changed every two years than expensive stuff changed every 4 years . Fluid is Hygroscopic that is your enemy , from the moment you put it in the system it is absorbing water and the boiling point dropping .

You probably already know, avoid Dot 5 it is not compatible with anything. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

What about this ESP, LV label?

DOT 4 Low Viscosity = LV
Recommended for the latest generation vehicles with electronic control of braking systems and stability such as ABS, ESP, ASR, TCS, EBD

DOT 4
Having an extremely high boiling point and lower viscosity than required, it meets and greatly exceeds regulatory standards. Also suitable for vehicles with ABS.

So far, every car has ABS, ESP and so on atleast freelander 2 has, should people use then this LV?

Brembo does not suggest to use DOT 4 whit system which have this DOT 4 LV, how people know do they have this LV. Maybe its best to do system flush straightaway?

honestly if you are just topping up the master cylinder , adding A to B will make no difference that you can feel. If the fluid is 3 years old change it. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
