For a more practical response, I see your car is 2014 model and therefore still under warranty. Get your dealer to check both gas struts are performing as designed.
NB: If your other half is vertically challenged, maybe a hanging strap attached to the inner trim may help when closing! Wink

It might be possible to automate it? Like the Evoque say? So she just presses her button to make it open and close? Or attach an extended strap so she can pull the tailgate down if she cant reach the handles?

I have seen CG's leather belt mod on his FL2 (think old belt, screwed to tailgate to help Mrs CG reach boot lid to close)

But my only other thought would be to see if there were more powerful pistons available after market, but what goes up must come down and I have 2 visions, one of the wife been thrown through the air when it springs up, the other of her dangling there trying to close it

Can she not put the shopping in the rear seats for ease and lack of spending money Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The only disadvantage of electric opening tailgates as i see it is it you open it when theres not enough clearance, like up against a wall, it will chip all your paint on the edge as i dont think they have a distance sensor to stop it if theres not enough space??
