but how about another make of phone or tablet that will allow transmit/receive between the two devices rather than just the transmit to the speaker ?

I.e. connect the phone to a mates Samsung phone. and try and send a picture between each other.

that will prove out that your Iphone Bluetooth is working fine with different devices.

if it fails to connect it could be there is a problem with the Bluetooth module in your phone. If it connects successfully and you can transmit/receive then it is something entirely different causing the problems connection to the head unit in the car.

I suppose you are aware that the bluetooth unit on the earlier cars is actually situated at the back near the fuel filler? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Well after trying to pair the phone for nearly a week now, (must have re-tried at least 40 or 50 times)

This morning I tried again and for the first time, the car has now found the phone and I have a pairing!!

Will now see how this works out, not sure why it is working now but glad it is.

Thanks for all the help. Anyone else having this problem, I can only advise to keep trying!

The older iPhones up to 5S use bluetooth 4.0. The mentioned Galaxy S4, that is working fine, uses bluetooth 4.0, too.
I'm using a iPhone 5S with my FL2 without problems.

The newer iPhones since model 6 use bluetooth 4.2.
Anyone here who was able to successfully connect a bluetooth 4.2 device (e.g. iPhone 6, 6s) with the car unit?

Yes, I am using a 6s absolutely no issues. I also had no issues with my 4. Always have latest software on the phone.

Yes, I am also using the 6S,

After my earlier problems, (see start of this thread), after about 50 attempts!!

It is now working fine and re-connects when I get in the car, without any problems.
( I am using the latest software on the phone)

I have an iPhone 6 and it connects to my 58 plate SE everytime. Infact it's more reliable than my old Focus that in the 6 years I owned it had the Bluetooth module replaced as it just died...connecting my old 4S and then 6 was pot luck sometimes! SAV
