Seats should not need programming unless it has memory seats and the pre-tensioners will just swap over. Smile

Should work without reprogramming- but forgot to say earlier that you will need to run can bus twisted pair to seats and break into the canbus loom as position motors have hall sense otherwise only the lumbar support motor will function and no others. Trailer module is probably most accessible point for this. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

I am seeking information on swapping the 6 way seats in a post 2010 update series Freelander 2 with 8 way seats out of a 2009 Freelander HSE. When LR released the update model in mid 2010 in Australia they deleted the 8 way seat option from all variants including the HSE, retaining only the 6 way option. I am looking to buy a post 2010 diesel HSE but cannot buy one until i determine that this conversion can be done. The conversion will need to retain the memory function and, importantly, the side mirror memory function.
I suspect from reading this thread that there may be programming problems with the CANBUS system but am not certain.

I would be doing the work myself as I am mechanically adept!

Can anyone give some assistance in this?

Just a small point if you go for a later car my13 on the memory part will not work and the drivers seat adjustment you will need to toggle the switch for the seat movements as the seat Ecu is different and cannot be exchanged for the earlier version as the wiring plugs on the ecu are completely different! Sad

If you are changing electric for electric then it's a straight swap, no mods required 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Thanks for the two prompt replies, guys.
It appears that providing the plugs on the seats are the same then it should work. However have either of you actually done this swap?

Thanks, 3Disco.
If I may clarify, it appears that you swapped the seats out of a 2012 FL2 into a 2013 FL2 and the drivers seat controls and memory didn't work properly. My problem is that a 2012 FL2 should only have a 6 way drivers seat, not 8 which is what I need.

Hi, Jim NI.
If you could, can you please clarify that I can put an 8 way electric drivers seat and a 6 way passengers seat out of a 2009 FL2 into a, say, 2012 FL2 which has a 6 way drivers seat and a 4 way passenger seat and have them work normally including the memory function.

Apologies for being persistent but I am trying to decide whether to buy a AU$30k car based on this information!

Hi 3disco.
Further research shows that the dash design changed for the 2013 year FL2, which started to sell in Australia in very late 2012. The link below shows the update dash:

Is this the update you are referring to when you say that the electrics changed in your 2013 year FL2?

Thanks again 3Disco.
Looks like I am getting there. Is it correct that you took the 6 way drivers seat and the 4 way passenger seat out of a pre update dash 2012 FL2 and fitted then into a 2013 FL2 without electric seats, or did you put a set of 8 way and 6 way seats into a 2013 FL2 with 6 way and 4 way seats?

Car had manual seats and I fitted six way electric seats in,the problem being that the earlier model year 12 ecu will not speak to the 13my ecu, although the electrics do work to a fashion, for seat movements you have to toggle the switches for small incremental movements, the ecu is different to both model years and has completely different wiring plugs from memory the earlier version has three lots of wiring and the later two! Sad

Thanks Disco3, I now see that what I am restricted to is a pre 2013 FL2 as the 2013 update changed the electronics. 2 Range Rovers and 3 Discos later, plus AU$50k repairs, still be a LR fan.
