Leaky Landy

Chaps - I've noticed some water running down the inside of my rear window (14 plate) it seems to be coming from the panel directly behind the brake light on the top of the boot lid.

I cant seem to find an easy way to get in here to have a tinker?!

I had a leak which was coming from rear off-side window which I told the dealer, but they insisted in resealing the high level brake light which is a known fault. Week later back on the phone, can you seal this window you know the one I told you about in the first place, which they did. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

On a MY14 I wouldn't tinker - take it back to the dealer and tell them that the high level brake lamp is leaking - it is a well known fault - they should replace the lamp.

My previous Freelander let water in around the high level brake light, it's not a great detail

Ah, you have an optional extra - The True Land Rover Experience - for internal floor & boot cleaning. Laughing

I have this - put some insulating tape on the top of the light - works a treat. Mine's dark blue so you can't see it - It'll be looked at when serviced next though. Search the forum & you'll find lots of tips - take of the interior trim at the top of the rear window etc. - but its a bit of a faff so if you have warranty get the LR boys to do it, I was afraid of breaking the plastic clips that hold the trim in place. (search high level brake light) FL2 Ex D2, D3, RRS, etc. now all gone.

I had this problem, I fixed it by removing the light
And smearing silicone grease on both sines off the rubber gasket
( not silicone sealant). Silicone grease
Never leaked since Thumbs Up 2008 xs
Snorkel
raised axle/gearbox breathers
Mantec tank guard

And me. Removed the unit. Thick coating of silicone grease on the gasket, refit and never a drop since. Very easy.

Thanks everyone - sounds fairly common then i guess - its more an annoyance than anything else because its just a drip once in a while but it means i'm having to run the a/c all the time to keep the windscreen clear...

As he is in warranty think i'll leave it alone and get them to fix it during the service in march... Smile
