front passenger door will not unlock

Greetings,

The right (passenger side) front door of my 2008 LR2 will not unlock. All other door locks are functioning normal, but the RF will not unlock with the fob, nor with the dash button, nor with either the interior or the exterior door handle - it is, to the best I can figure, well and truly locked shut.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and found a solution? Once I get the door open and can remove the door card, I can do some testing and solve the reason for the problem, but HOW to get to that point is where I am now.

Thanks.

Have you tried the manual key? In the uk, there is a manual key for front side passenger door, not sure in the US. Common failure, do a search as someone has shown how to fix this.

United States

Many thanks for the quick reply and the advice.

North American version has the keyed lockset only on the left (driver's) door.

I previously searched this and other forums, and have found a few really helpful posts on how and what to fix for this common problem, but have only hit on one that describes working on a LR2 door that is locked shut. Unfortunately in my situation, that post involved a rear door, where the card can apparently be removed with the door shut. On the front door of my '08, there is a screw on the upper rear of the card that cannot be accessed with the door shut.

Also, I forgot to mention initially that the window does operate, so the problem is not a bad fuse / no power.
