I'm starting an install of a 7 inch Archos tablet tomorrow. I've read around on the various available threads but I've got a quick question.

I need to make a flying blade fuse - Has anyone got a picture of one they've made? I found a pic on one of the threads, but I didn't bookmark it and I can't find it now.. The only other thread that I can find referencing one seems to no longer have the pic attached.

Someone also mentioned that you need to make sure you solder the wire on the correct side. Can anyone elaborate on this please?

Also, what size fuse will I need to use? I'll be connecting it to a switch and a 12v-5v stepdown converter.

I assume my 2012 will use mini blade fuses?

Why make one? They are very cheap and readily available. Yes it's a mini blade. All your questions answered on the "retro-fit TomTom" thread, which you should find easily via search.
"Correct side" - you need to put the fuse body between the power source and power take off. Otherwise there's no point having a fuse! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

From memory, the flying lead is toward the outside of the two rows of fuses, the inner being the feed for them, but as with anything like this a double check with a meter will be prudent to ensure its safe.

Making my own lead was easy enough, it wasn't pretty but perfectly serviceable, the bought ones are much better, if you have a Maplin nearby, they have them.
