United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Barolo Black
My freelander want to go all black with it!

Just bought my first ever freelander got a 2011 sd4 xs model in black. Really like the all black look a few others on here have done! Few jobs looking to do straight away any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Windows are being tinted this week
Front grille and side vents - seems best option is to have them sprayed?
Lettering & Badges - iv seen the gloss black lettering and badges on eBay, but not the sd4 xs lettering would it be best to leave or remove that? Confused
Has original 18" alloys on at minute like new with new tyres. Need to decide between have these colour changed or go for a set of 19 or 20" in black?

Thanks!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

Hi and welcome
My car is monochrome but I have replaced a lot of the OE kit for black and white
The side vents are easy to do - I sprayed mine with a tin of matt black auto paint from Poundland! Here's a before and after shot - you could always buy a set from fleabay but they seem expensive to me.

I am having my front grille professionally sprayed as I want it done bumper off but I was tempted to have a go myself as it does not seem that difficult.
The badges I went for the gel replacements after good advice on here - they are first class and I have had no issues with them in the last 6 months - they simply glue on top of the original

I replaced the hub centres with black and silver

Decided to keep my Evoque 19 wheels as is as I liked the overall effect but could just as easily have gone for black finish

Changed all lettering to piano gloss black - left off the TD4 stuff

Am mid-way through tinting rear end so that is a work in progress

My advice - shop around and have a good old browse on the Forum - loads of good advice based on experience - Good Luck No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Nice Job !

To complete, you should do the rear chrome trim in glossy black finish and maybe the wheels in the same colour.

It would be a nice matching on it Wink

Thanks for the advice westville! Windows are done so I'll see what the guys are saying when getting prices for the front grille about the side vents (don't mind having a go at them)! Lettering so ordered looks straightforward enough? Any tips for removing glue? I'll give the gel overlays a try as well. Thanks again!

Hi
The glue just peels off I cleaned the residue off with "sticky Stuff Remover" but I gues white spirit or similar would do the same job.

hey westville

looks awesome, when did you do this?

my bonnet lettering which has been done black has changed from gloss to a matte black due to the sun, has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to replace them soon, does anyone know the link for some good quality ones that this won't happen with?

also getting the glue off was a punish, any tips?? can't believe I'm going to do it twice. grr 2011 black FL2

Hi
Thank you for kind comments - did the swap over in July - so far no problems at all - sun fading is unlikely where I live (North East England) so not had that problem to deal with.
I got the front lettering from a trader on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Badge...SwxH1UHyYm very pleased with price and quality - comes on a pre-shaped template easy to apply and they have 3M fixing tape which REALLY sticks well.
The original glue just peeled off and I cleared the very slight residue with "Sticky Stuff Remover" - there's a pic above of the bottle it comes in.
Good luck

Nice venue for the photo! I reckon the roof rails on a fl2 makenit look more purposeful and aggressive. Much sleeker without. You buys yo car you makes yo choice... Confused
