i Pod connection

Hi, I have a 2013 GS, I have plugged my I Pod into the USB socket in the centre console, Trouble is that sometimes t works fine, full control with the dash controls and full track names and listing on the screen.
However most of the time it either doesn't connect or states "Non connection" on screen , plays tracks at random or just show's track numbers.
Surely if it works correct some of the time it show work all the time ?
Also the reversing beeps are flippin loud but being a GS model I believe nothing can be done about this Rolling Eyes
Any advice appreciated
Thanks from a newbie

I've got quite a few Apple leads, some of them over 10 years old and they've been fine if you don't swing on them. If the iPod is 6 years old, is it an iPod classic and what is the capacity of it?

Hi Deano
Yes its a classic, so I'm being told and yes I wouldn't be surprised if the kids have been mistreating the leads, Its a 8gb version.
I also have a 32gb touch which I interestingly found out last night would not sync with my lap top using the new lead, it would recognise it but not sync.
Genuine apple lead ordered Idea

Thanks for the advise Very Happy

Now reverse bleep Confused

Sound like a lead problem . Never had probs with my leads. In the car, my 160gB Ipod classic works and my 30gB Ipod doesn't work, both using the same lead. Didn't know they made Classics as low capacity as 8 gB. Sounds like an Ipod Nano to me ? My first ever IPod many many years ago was 20gB.

You can tell a leads on its way out if you look at the plug on the device end. You have the plug then a rubber flex coating which is 5-10mm long depending on cable age, look at the lead just below that if the insulation is crinkled up / not smooth / has a bulge in it, then the lead is on the way out or dead already. This is caused by pulling the cable to remove it rather than plastic connector.

Work as an Apple Master for Carphone Warehouse, trust me when i say removing correctly i have never had to buy a replacement lead since my first iphone in 2007. But have sold 1000's to those who dont.

4 Months on and fed up

OK so new I pod genuine lead, and tried three different I pods and all the same every time I turn the engine off every time the phone rings its straight back to the start Track one, fed up listening to ABACAB by Genesis. Oh if the phone rings it then starts playing tunes on blue tooth from the phone and wont go back to the I pod till the engine is turned off. Crying or Very sad

Oh and the reversing Beep that cannot be turned down is driving me up the wall, I mean really driving me insane, why on earth L/R made them without even the chance of turning the sound off is beyond believe.

Two small things which have ruined the L/R experience for me, can wait to get rid Embarassed

when reversing and bleeping sound going turn stereo volume down
this would have reduced Volume
but from reading your last note it may not be the right vehicle for you.

Thanks for the reply V40TC
Yep Been told that, and tried it, Mine is the GS model which apparently doesn't have that facility Mad
I have absolutely no problem with the vehicle its just the simply little things which should cost nowt to get right which ruin the car
