If that's a dealer around Sidcup way it sounds like they're going back to their old ways. Used to be so bad even LR Recovery guys advised against them (but they had a great parts department!). If you are under extended warranty you probably need to take it to a dealer. I've found JLS at Herne Hill to be expensive for servicing but reliable and very helpful on warranty repairs. Not too close to you but right by Herne Hill station. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I just had my 3rd service (48000miles/36 months) done last Sat with the main dealer, they asked for 160 quid for replacing the rear brake pads which I refused right away, they also offered fixing my parking sensors for 310 quid on the same day before I told them my car still under extended warranty. They immediately said I need to book for another day..(typical).

I think I will find a reputable individuals from now on.....

their services is going downhill.....don't want to pay for that. Any recommendations around Dartford Bridge?

BTW, my sensors is giving out constant beeps on rainy days... any causes for that??

Cheers.

Cheers mate! Thanks! and yes....they are the 'you know who'! haha Freelander 2 XS MY 2012, 19" rims, Barolo Black. Privacy glass, spoiler.

Do it yourselves! Oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter and Castrol oil - less than £100 and a couple of hours of your time. At least you'll know it's done properly!

The only thing thats puts folk off doing it themselves is getting it started again after doing the fuel filter, even the LR mechanic says he hates doing them, he said he hated doing Freelander filters, so the rest of the range must be easier on that basis? and it took him quite a while to get it to run properly afterwards again even with their proper equipment.

Dunk it in a pot of fuel untill bubbles stop coming out. Fit and forget!

Re Bleeding, years ago you could use a hand primer to get the fuel to the injector pump then loose the nuts on the injectors and operate the starter to remove the air, tighten up each injector and job done.

Then we had self priming pumps which were a great advantage, especially if you ran out of fuel on a journey as anyone could get their vehicle started again.

Now we've progressed to what?? An awkward system with limited access which is beyond the means of most people and where even the mechanics can run into trouble .

And then there are electric latches and handbrakes, all retrograde steps in my opinion!

Hopefully they will advance to the point soon where you put can of oil in the boot and the car services itself, then e mails the garage so they can record its done. Thumbs Up

Well lancasters at Welwyn have just quoted me £289 incl VAT for a 3rd service (48k miles)........I was expecting it to be higher so it is booked in now. Apparently I am going to get a video report so that will be exciting!!

I rather expect that now I am getting close to the 3 year mark I will go indie next time

I see the "about us" page of their web site is offering to sell you "the new 2013 Freelander 2". Could this be the solution for those who don't like the DS? Cool Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Had my second one done at Farnells in Leeds a few weeks ago and the Service advisor muttered something like ' its quite a good deal now with the fixed price servicing of Freelanders. May be it is fixed price all over. Only filters and oil for me I recall

Hatfields LR at Pickering North Yorkshire charge £350 for 2nd service, I think that's a bargain from a main dealer
