My car is due its first service at the end of August , what sort of price should I expect to be charged? I only have a couple of garages to play off against each other (I'm in Scotland ) . There is a dealer about 15mins away (who didn't return my call when I was looking for a car) and the dealer who I bought the car from , about 40mins away (Stirling ). Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

From memory, I think Shatstones in Aylesbury wanted £340 a couple of years ago...mine was included in the deal, but I seem to recall the invoice price equating to that. If you are stuck for options up there and they have a monopoly on it between the two dealers, it might be worth a trip South to Team Valley Land Rover in Teeside who by all accounts have a very good reputation on here. Foraging near Gaydon....

Mine is booked in with an independent (land rover approved) for its 1st service, £261 which seems a good price. Main dealers which are 42 & 46 miles away wanted closer to £400. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory |

There used to be a time when the first service was free.

why do you think nearly all modern showrooms have huge plate glass windows........... so they can see a potential target from miles away |

Have you tried Pentland @ Newbridge, they were the cheapest when I looked recently for a B service. Not used them for a service yet but they were good when car went in for warranty repair and sat nav update.

My first service will be free as I recommended one of my customers to the dealer who bought a new RRS & the Dealer Principal who I get on well with asked what I would like as a bonus. I expected him to say no when I mentioned 1st Service!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Did you get a discount from Morrisons for purchasing the car there? as it does seem a good price.

The first price I was give was £280, the girl said if I get a cheaper price to get back to her, I said if I get a cheaper price I would just go with that quote , she said hang on and that's why she took another £20 off. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

I'm not surprised he took your hand off. The labour is a sunk cost (the guys are there anyway and getting paid so there's no incremental cost for doing your service as a freebie) and the cost price of the oil is significantly less than what they charge for it. Overall it'll probably cost him less than £100 to do the service. Selling an RRS for a £100 investment sounds like a pretty good return to me! |
