Can I fit DAB to our 2011 freelander 2

hi
Can anyone advice, we have a 2011 xs with sat nav, is it possible to change the head unit to a DAB one, if so what's involved or do I have other options? Regards
J Jenkinson

Don't think you can it's been talk about before, it not a case of just changing the head unit and I can't recall anyone actually doing it. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

The Head Unit is the same, the DAB unit is an add on, but, you will need aerial amplifiers etc, lot of work involved, still not sure if any one has actually managed to do it.

someone must have managed this surely?

I have a 2010 XS with the premium alpine stereo system and the DAB antenna in the rear glass, but no DAB functions on the radio. Surely I just need to buy the amplifier and the DAB unit and connect to the radio??? My radio is one with digital written on the FM button (Non DAB CAPABLE ones don't have digital written on the button)

Surely there are some dealer personnel on here who can shed some light?

Five components make up the the DAB system, that's not including the Radio Head, two of them are Antennas.

Dab?

Can anyone advise me on my 2014 Freelander 2 having DAB.
As you can see from pics it appears that the DAB aerial is connected in rear window and hidden service menu says DAD is available but not initialised.
How do I initialise? Dealer well salesman says not available on Freelander 2 even though same system runs
On evoke?
Any help be appreciated

I had one of these in my previous Ford C-Max and was more than happy with it.

Certainly an easier option

You had better check that you can get a good DAB signal in your area, I had a loan car with it and had to turn it off eventually as unlike analogue FM it doesn't degrade with failing signal strength it just breaks up. It's a bit like the adverts for 4G phones when outside of major urban areas you can't even get 3G and you are even lucky to get 2.5G (GPRS) in a lot of places .

Incidentally I was wondering if stations like ClassicFM will be rebranded as ClassicCOFDM (coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ) when we all go digital ? Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue does it? Cool

OK, quick update here about retrofitting DAB on MY15 at least!
Dab Arial is connected to DAB Amplifier from your left hand side rear screen arial - there should be a press stud type connection on the forward most of the two connections on this window, second connection for Auxillary fuel fired booster heater receiver.
There is a second arial located in the dome on top of the roof. If you have the Dab Arial Amplifier attached then most likely this will be also.
DAB Module is located behind luggage compartment cover RH side and is strapped to the ICE amplifier.
If you have all these connected, all that is need is for CCF to be activated.
You should then have DAB radio.
This information is no thanks to waiting for the dealer here in Australia who originally said they didnt know where the module is and then started saying it was behind the dash. How come I can go on to Topix, buy a subscription and find this information in 1hr and a dealer can't?????
Off to dealer in the morning to have it out and make the point that maybe instead of paying $850 for first service that i buy an IIDTOOL for $1200 as this respresents better value for money!!
Rant over, to be continued Banging Head

Hi I have DAB radio in my freelander, but I bought a pure highway DAB for my van it work brilliantly. Cost about £35. you tune your FM radio to the pure DAB, it great. I love listening radio 5 live Thumbs Up 2013 hse auto, black, almond leather, exnon lights, factory privacy glass, exhaust finisher, rear boot spoiler, mud flaps. Body door side moulding and steps.

Gone and fondly remembered
