We all knew it could anyway.

Thought I should spread the word after some tosser in a LandCruiser told me to park up on a bit of grass when I was parking at the Ekka as it was "Probably the first time it has been off road" Rolling Eyes

I thought the inch of dust all over the car might have been a giveaway that it wasn't a city only beast Mad

Interesting to note that the Goodyear Wrangler tyres were not stock, as I have them as standard which is a bonus. Phil

Aren't they the MT/R tyres, not the wranglers?

The standard Goodyear Wranglers are M+S version

were as the MT/R are still Wranglers but a off road version, which has chunckyier grooves

If you compare this picture to your you should see the difference

Ireland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Zermatt Silver

I wonder what size the MTR's were ??

I know I looked for 235/60 18's as fitted to our HSE, but was told no such size was available in an MTR ! “You feel uneasy, as the mad scientist locks the door behind you & dissolves the key in a vat of Acid”

Looking at the pic, it has XS wheels, which are 17s, standard tyres are 235/65 r17

Can't see anything on GYs website about them making them in this size, or any 17" for that matter

I wonder if they have gotten Goodyear to start making them, so they have them for things like this, and the G4 Challenge.

Australia 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Narvik Black

Hello all

I fail to see what the tyre controversy is all about. In Australia the standard Goodyear Wrangler fitment tyre on a 17" rim is basically a road tyre (equivalent to a BFG Macadam) that works quite well off road if you drop pressure to 22psi. I recently pulled 550Kg trailer load of sand through a slippery muddy creek crossing without effort.

The Simpson Desert trip used Wrangler MTRs which are a more serious tyre readily available (midway between a to a BFG all terrain and a BFG mud terrain). Look at the website. It is the first tyre listed

Maybe so , but try and find such a tyre in the UK? Seemingly not available in FL2 sizes.
Although I'm sure 16" ones could be fitted?
