As the title says......

I currently have a Garmin sat nav that wedges just nicely into the cubby hole, and have taken a USB lead from the front aux socket next to the gear lever, and ran it behind the dash to power it. That way it switches on/off with ignition.

Obviously the Garmin will not last forever, so I was wondering if a 7'' tablet (Tesco HUDL for example) would fit behind the trim panel and how to get a simple power feed to it that is ignition fed. Will the tablet switch on/off with the ignition??

I have a parrot kit fitted with the 3.5mm jack and USB port fed into the glovebox so potentially a sound and switched power source from that.

Any suggestions welcomed?

It has been done, in many cases using a tablet coincidentally called the Freelander! You need to check your dimensions and connectivity requirements carefully, though, as it's a tight fit. Try a search - there are threads here on this.

ive browsed over a couple of the threads where this has been done but not been able to find out about the switched power source.
Samsung tablets that i have owned, and currently have, dont respond to the charging source being switched on/off, they just show the charging light if they are off.
