2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black
Advise please as no A.M on my radio

Hi,
I have a Freelander 2, HSE 2008. Regarding the radio, i had one of the A.M stations on and it started to break up. I presumed i was in a poor signal area. After about a minute or so the station went off completely. Now, none of the A.M stations work at all although F.M and the CD player are fine. There is no noise at all coming from the A>M stations. Landrover said it could be a module in the back of the radio which will cost me £320.00+ to replace. Is there a cheaper option so that i can get A.M back please? The radio, i think is an Alpine system with surround sound. It has Bluetooth built in for mobile phones etc.
Can anyone please help? Thank you.

Do a search on here and you'll find others and my self have had the same problem.
Had mine fixed under warranty at the time, but if it happen again and at £320 I'll live with out AM stations.

It's covered by a special service message: SSM42186

I'm with Pinky on this one.
This also happened to my 2008 model Freely so it must be a bad batch of radios.
Thankfully it was still under warranty and a new radio was fitted.

For the cost, I'd pay a bit more and replace the whole radio. I would also write to LR explaining this is "known fault" as per Alex's service bulletin, and see if they would help with any replacement costs. Worth a go!
