Clutch slipping in 5 and 6th gear

Had my freelander for 12 months and it's just started slipping in high gear when I put my foot down in 5th and 6th. It done 80k and I have checked forums and it says my clutch on its way out.
Landrover garage wants £920 to do it not a chance
My local 4x4 specialist garage gave me a price after a bit of persuasion he is doing it for £600 that new clutch and flywheel. I priced the parts only and it was £350 so he charging £250 for labour. I think that's a good price amazing what haggling and going with other quotes will get you as it's an all day job 😃😃😃
Going in next week Steve the newby

I had that happen on my first FL2.
I got the LR dealer where I bought it to quote me and they said around the £900 mark (this was about 4 years ago)
After a bit of haggling/negotiating/pouring my heart out they reduced it to around the £500. (cant remember the exact figures)

Didnt get it done though as the brakes all needed doing and the tyres at the same time and I couldnt afford it after losing job so offloaded it to a different dealer.

Interesting that my 2010 FL2 has also been slipping in 6th at 70mph, had a bit of hassle from dealer as I am only on week 4 of ownership !
Thankfully the workshop foreman was out in it between Christmas and he agreed it slipping so mine is going in under warrantee Smile
she only has 60k miles

If it were me, whilst the box is out to do the Clutch, I would get the Slave Cylinder replaced at the same time, you can bet your bottom dollar it will fail before long, it's not expensive in the scheme of things, but if it does fail it's gearbox out again.
