Fitting an In-Car Camera

Hi Guys,
Newbie Here!
Freel2.
I have fitted a new In-Car Camera (Drive-Pro 200) but I'm unhappy with the power lead trailing flapping all over the place.
Is there 12v permanent (or better still 12v switchable with the ignition) up in the Courtesy Light Cluster? I though I might pinch it from there.
Any thoughts of other ideas would be gratefully appreciated!

Regards

HG

I think the accepted method of wiring the camera would be to tuck the cable around the headlining and down the A pillar and pick up a feed from the fuse box behind the glove box where there are several power options. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

Fitting an In-Car Camera

Final Update for anyone wanting to do the same thing.
On inspection and testing there are 2 x 12v supplies in the Courtesy Light Cluster.
Supply one turns on the Courtesy Light when the doors open then dims and goes out after a few seconds.
Supply two, also to the Courtesy Light, is live to the switch and goes OFF when the car is locked.
Bingo!
Connected the DrivePro 200 supply lead to this Supply two Live Wire and to Ground Wire which does the job perfectly.

I used the Power Lead which came with the Camera and simply soldered cables to the Centre Pin and Ground Side Bar of the Plug. This allows whatever is in the Plug (including the fuse) to remain unaffected. Taped it up and pushed into the head lining space. (Loads of room!)

Thanks for the responses. Very Happy

Sounds simple enough, I'm surprised that's not been suggested before. I guess most will play safe and wire back to a dedicated or higher rated supply. May use this myself.

Let us know if the interior light fuse pops!

Many look for a permanent live so have the option to run it when parked.
