Touch screen not responding!!

Hi

Can anyone help me here. We have just purchased a new (secondhand) 2013 FL2 and the touch screen keeps jamming and not responding to touch.

It does work intermittently however then stops responding again. So far it seems that the control buttons on the dash and steering wheel do work however I dont think you get all the functionality from these and do need to use the touch screen.

We are taking it back to the dealer as it is under warranty however going back to them all the time is a real hassle as they dont seem to know how to resolve it. They have reset it, done a complete re-program (whatever that means) and the current plan is to replace the touch screen in its entirety.

However if anyone has any good ideas I am very keen to hear them?

Thank you

Just by way of update here.

It seems to be that the system keeps getting stuck on the 'valet' screen.

If I start the vehicle it works, then if I start using the sat nav or radio they work. As I drive away the screen cycles to the home menu and then to the the valet screen where it stays and the screen does not respond to touch.
I can use the push buttons however the touch screen is Evil or Very Mad stuffed. Freelander 2 SE 2008

Just a thought. had a similar problem with the screen myself.
Check the fuses in the boot there is one that controls the screen remove it and clean the terminals of the fuse.
most electrical problems on the fl2 are dirty fuses.

Thanks for the responses.

I will check out the fuses tonight.

I am taking it back to the dealer but in these parts its a long way into the dealer and a real hack getting around without transportation.

Thanks for the help. Freelander 2 SE 2008

To close this one off.

Apparently what was happening was the screen was not sitting correctly and needed to be slightly moved back.

There was pressure on the top left hand side which seemed to get worse when the car was moving. So it kept cycling back to the valet mode. Then once there the screen would jam as when you pushed it there were essentially 2 contacts on it.

It is working fine now Thumbs Up Freelander 2 SE 2008
