Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Comes on very briefly and engine fires within a couple of seconds. Outside temp. 1C- 3C.

2nd March 2010 with my new FL2 (2nd one) collected on the 1st I was at Dunkeld Hilton prior to the day at LR Experience Dunkeld. Lots of snow (see gallery pictures taken at LRE. ignore dates). I switched ON and pressed start button and waited and waited (remember this car brand new and first morning start) and then engine burst into life, outside temp -17C.
It was cold!!! All FL2's (3) Gone

Due to the aircraft having visited France during the day and getting caught up in the snow problems there it was delayed taking me from Jersey to Gatwick, so Gatwick car park was -5 at 11pm and the FL2 was covered in ice when I got to it. The glow plug symbol did illuminate during starting.

-4 the other day and -3 this morning and I've not had a glow light as yet and started no problem.

Had a little chuckle to my self tho this morning as I left my house this morning the same time as my neighbour, heated screen on defrosted in no time without getting out my car drove away while he was still scrapping and defrosting his windows on his 4x4, Smug look on my face as I drove past him nodding good morning.

-6 yesterday morning and -4 this morning but no glow plug symbol. just took a few more seconds for the engine to fire up after pressing start.

Dont recall getting the glow plug up on my last FL2 either

(or maybe its just because Im still half asleep at that time of the morning and dont notice Shocked )

It was -4 this morning & the car had not been run for 2 days. Pressed start, glow plug coil indicator lit for a few seconds whilst there was the start delay, starter engaged, started fine but showed a momentary HDC failure warning. Normal start as far as I am concerned. NB: I have ordered a second earth lead to fit as per the "oldgeezer" saga. Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Looking at the stats on this thread, it seems to be the ones with models up to 09 see very little of the Glowplug Warning, whereas the later models light the Glowplug Warning, which seems to be what I had with mine, the 07 didn't light up but the MY11 one did. Both started ok, just a delay from when pressing the Start Button to the commencing of Cranking, colder it was, the longer the delay.

Earlier this week after not driving the car for few days and a period of cold weather we counted how long the glowplug light came on and before the car started - we counted to 'four-thousand' (as in one-thousand, two-thousand, etc!). Quite a long time.

Wished I had hooked up the Bluetooth iOBD device and measured the coolant temperature first. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
