Cumbria (South Lake District) - looking for a pleasant drive

I'm off to the Lake District for the day on Friday.

Can anyone recommend a nice drive where I can get a bit of mud on my tyres and try out the Terrain Response?

I've done a some off road driving before, but this time looking for nothing too gnarly as I will be a solo vehicle with my mother and the kids in the car.
