Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Firenze Red
2014 sat nav

I told you guys I had more daft questions Rolling Eyes . This time it's about the sat nav . My tomtom has spoken street names , does the freelander do the same ? Ie "turn left into London rd in 100yrds" type of thing.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Orkney Grey

Not on my XS - it just says "in 400 yards take the next left, at the roundabout take the second exit" etc Don't know if the top spec model is different.

Its also irritating how many times its tells you! Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014

My se tech is just over a week old and my satnav doesn't say the street names but they do come up in a box on the map

2013 XS

First warning on approach 'In 400 (whatever, varies) yards turn left into the High Street'. The use of 'the' before every street name is a pain.

Final warning at 100 yards 'in 100 yards turn left'.

What tyke65 says above. Agree also that overuse of the word "the" is annoying. Incidentally, by complete accident I discovered that it cannot say "Keresley" properly...it comes out as complete gobbledygook! Foraging near Gaydon....

I drove around Spain and France earlier this year and the way she pronounces some of the place names there is uninteligible. At least Caen pronounced as K N is understandable Rolling with laughter

The use of "the" before every street name is anoying, especially if it already starts with "the". It looks like she has been dropped, or at least turned off, for the 2014 models.

Interestingly the Spanish maps had contour lines. At one point that was all I had on the screen even though the road must have been there for 20 years. I thought all the maps came from Navteq so I would have expected some consistency. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Don't assume Navteq are precise. I keyed in St Austell Brewery as a POI and it tried to take me to Tintagel, some 30 miles away! Foraging near Gaydon....

Lady Garmin is very good at pronouncing "recalculating" - she does it often enough. She does seem to have a disapproving tone though. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver
