No need for a manual

Clearly there is no Workshop Manual for the Freelander 2 because its such a reliable and well built vehicle that no one would ever have occasion to use it other than skimming it through idle curiosity Whistle .

(Unlike some cars of course, whose owners dare not leave home without a workshop manual and a portable workshop stowed away beside the spare battery, spare key fob, a diagnostic computer and a chap in overalls to plug it in and a copy of "Counselling the Shocked and Appalled - a guide to coping with casualties of Main Dealer Service charge trauma.")

To Zone 30 - you should not need to bleed the brakes UNLESS you do something silly while changing the pads - ie if you were to for example press the pedal with no pads fitted, which would cause the pistons to shoot out of the calipers. There is no need to interfere with the hydraulic system when changing shoes.
In this case the instructions for any car with a similar system should be enough to show you what to do.

I read the other day, that they did a Disco3 manual after they were repeated asked for it

Yet there is a link to the Topix D3 Manual over on Disco3, someone must be paying a subscription for it, lots of adverts on it to help with payment.

I shall be intrigued to know if its a rewrite if topix with daft script from a desk bound hands off mechanic or if they have had an experienced hands on mechanic do the work and script it.

Good point Badger. Mines an MY10, I fancy buying a copy. I wonder if it will be cheaper buying from the likes of Play or Amazon rather than direct from Haynes, think I'll wait and see. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Might be worth waiting and seeing if they actually strip down a car or just regurgitate Topix.

It's years since I last used a Haynes manual, but they have always prided themselves on doing their own strip-down and rebuild for their manuals.

From the Haynes website:

Quote:
Actually writing a car manual takes 20 to 30 man-weeks. Authors work in pairs, which shortens the origination time and avoids them going crazy in the middle of long projects. We buy a car at the beginning of the project and sell it at the end - either to staff or on the open market. The workshop phase lasts approximately 4 weeks, although we usually keep the car until the manual is about to print in case of last-minute queries. From the start of a project to the publication of the manual usually takes between three and six months.

Quote:
Do you do a total strip down and rebuild?
We buy one or more project vehicles for every manual and strip down everything relevant that we haven't seen before. Then we put it all back together again, renewing anything that is worn. We have two highly skilled technicians in our project workshop who assist and advise the technical authors.

Quote:
What happens to vehicles after they have been stripped down and rebuilt?:
We keep them and run them for a couple of months to make sure everything is OK. After that they are sold - quite often to Haynes staff, who appreciate the chance to buy a totally reconditioned vehicle - otherwise to the local motor trade.

Now is that a manual for the diesel only or a manual for a manual ( not automatic) diesel?

Just a query Question
