Hello, alex_pescaru
I'm not an owner of a LR2 vehicle (actually i don't have any LR/RR cars), but i'm a Jaguar fanatic.
Could you, please, tell me more about .vbf editing? I mean extraction, CRC32 checksum and so on.
I want to play a little with my ECM&TCM module (i have a spare modules, so i'm pretty failsafe), i have an SDD, Rotunda and Mongoose, also i can get an engeeniring code, if i'll need it.
Thanks so much, hope you'll help.

P.S. If i'll success with those modules, the results will be free for any willing enthusiast.

I've posted a few words about VBF structure on the first page of this topic.
Here: http://www.freel2.com/forum/post221295.html#221295

Do you need more specific informations?

Yeaj, i've read it.
If it is possible, i'm intrested in:
-Is the binary data somehow encrypted or compressed?
-What's the offset of binary data
-If i patch a binary, should i recalculate a CRC?

Thanks so much

1. The VBF is only the data's container. If the data is encrypted or not, compressed or not, it's up to the manufacturer and/or application. The VBF just holds the data.

2. Immediately after the header's end. And as the header is text and can hold anything, from comments to relevant information, then the start of binary data is variable. But if you take a look at a VBF, you'll see, for sure, where its header ends and where the binary begins.

3. Yes, at least the patched data block's CRC. Some applications checks the main CRC32 too, but all of them check the data blocks' CRC16.

Hi Alex.
I have a question for you.
Itīs about the instant fuel consumption.
Some countries measure it in L/100KM and that is the default display of Land Rover.
But in other countries like mine we donīt use this. Here we measure it in KM/L.
Do you know if itīs possible to change it, maybe by firmware modification?
Regards!

It's not necessary to modify the firmware.
The firmware knows how to show the consumption in either of km/l, l/100km, mpg(us) or mpg(uk).
You can change them with SDD.

Great! I didnīt know this. But I look some options on SDD software and didnīt find where to modify it. If someone knows where I should access on SDD please let me know.
Regards!

I believe that "Change consumption units" is one of the options in "Service functions".

Later edit... See below:

For front parking sensors, does it activate on the move when speed is less than around 20km/h? On mine fronts activates only after Drive gear is selected after Reverse gear. But often I come to parking lot just straight and fronts doesn't work. I have to push the PDC button.

There's service function for RRS/Discovery3 to activate front parking sensors when speed drops at about 20km/h and I can say I really like this function.

I tried to download different version in the same way as I did with instrument cluster but didn't find than funtion to work.

Any ideas? Smile

This is the way they work on my car too. From factory.
Only when selecting reverse or by button.
No automatic activation.
Don't have any idea....
On D3, there is the same hardware for PDC?

I guess that activate parking sensor by speed requires some complex firmware modifications unless the function is already hidden inside the firmware.
