It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

So what did you think of them Graeme?
They do look spectacular. Are they impressive up close? We'll be popping along to see them some time soon.

Oh, the Kelpies, another Scottish Government folly. Surely the money would have been better spent on the NHS, OAPs, Homeless, Schools etc. etc. rather than 30mt high bits of metal? Rolling Eyes

Agree - complete waste of money....and a serious danger as drivers rubber-neck on the motorway. I am astonished they got planning pemission for these- I wonder who got the backhander?

They are really fabulous close up. You couldn't fail to be impressed and also look amazing at night when lit up.
Should generate a fair bit of income in tourism.

I thought the Helix project was largely funded by the lottery?
I'm not sure how much Falkirk council put in but I'm sure the majority was
Lottery funding.
I'm no fan of wasted public money like that Scottish parliament (how did they get away with that?)
Or the stupid Edinburgh trams but if it's lottery funded I have no problems with things like the Kelpies.
I can see the point regarding the rubber neckers causing traffic problems but that's rubber neckers
For you.
I look forward to seeing them for myself.

They will be profit makers for the local tradesfolk and bring in large numbers of visitors. Genuinely attractive modern sculpture can be truly beautiful - unlike that monstrosity in Ilfracombe - but even that is a money-spinner for the area. It's in line with the Angel of the North and Gormley's wonderful figures on the beach at Crosby.

Thanks to the Kelpies and the Wheel, many folk now know where Falkirk is and have actually been there. That's got to be positive news, not negative. I've been on the tourist trip up and down the Wheel and now want to return to Falkirk to see the Kelpies. Well done you Scots! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
