Just pulling out of farm entrance, tight turn, slippery surface. You have to get a move on because of a blind brow that idiots rattle over unsighted at warp 9.

Mid turn and bang from rear, followed by a really nasty rumbling and clunking if any deviation from straight.

I'm hoping it's the diff, and not the Haldex.

Being recovered in the morning to my indy.

Hi, about 3 weeks ago, had similar loud bang on a tight left turn and pulling away quickly. However, no rumbling noises. Car driven ok since. Told dealer was worried might be an issue with driveshaft or diff etc, he said no as there would be a message on the dash for reduced traction. They are having it in next week to check anyway.

Seems as if someone has had a go at nicking the diff. Presumably they were disturbed as not all bolts undone.

It was only held in with two, and my quick exit from the entrance was just too much.

Few bits to sort out, eg propshaft u/j then connect it all up and see what else has been damaged.

With the FL2 now affordable by the illiterate masses this sort of thing will happen more often. No warranty and spent their last pennies on 4 part worns and a facelift bumper, 30 minutes with a spanner sounds like a good option for a whining diff.

I think I have to report it to the insurer, under the disclosure clause, but as the excess is £500 for theft claims, or attempted theft as this was, then I suspect that no actual claim will be made, assuming that no real expensive parts needed. If can't get a propshaft joint then it will be ~£500 for the prop alone plus fitting etc etc.

No idea where it happened, impossible to tell if recent or done for some time. I'd been to this farm in the morning, and there had been no possibility of anyone getting to the vehicle in the interim. Had been driving completely fine. IN the last two weeks the only places where it's been parked long enough unsupervised have ranged from Sheffield -daughter's, Rotherham - mother in law's, all the way to a 4* hotel in New Forest Hampshire. So it's done some miles recently but not left in dodgy areas. Always backed up the drive, rear end close to front door. Street light sits opposite.

What more can you do?

That was the first question I asked, was it possible that they had just vibrated out. Garage and rozzers agree, attempted theft apparently.


What do people think about fitting a diff guard with security fastenings?

Having just replaced my rear diff, it seems to me the chances of the bolts vibrating loose are very remote. The rear two bolts are behind the exhaust and hard to get at with the exhaust on the car and the front two are not easy to get out either. I had to take a breaker bar to them to shift them! Must have been determined/desperate thieves! John
