2011 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Fuji White
New Speakers (aftermarket) Problems

Hi There,

I have paid for upgrade the factory speakers on my 2011 SD4 and find that the front component speakers are lacking any form of treble/high end sound . The door twiters are active but i am not getting any high frequencies only mids.

Initial conversation with the installer poits at the head unit/amplifier but we have not investigated anything.
System: Hi Line system.
New Fronts: Morel Virtus 6.5 components
New Rear: Morel Maximum Coax.

The back door speakers seem to be ok but the fronts just lack high end.

If any one has any idea why this would happen i would most appreciate it.

Cheers.

Hi, don't know whether this will help but I had the same problem in another car and it turned out that the installer had wired the front speaker crossover (which splits the signals between the door speaker and tweeter) backwards sending the wrong frequency range to each speaker.
Once rectified the sound was fine.

I agree with Wireworld.

It sounds like the crossover is wiring is wrong, that would be the first thing I would be looking at.

I have Alpine Speakers in the front of mine and they have "Jumpers" in the crossover to attenuate the tweeters I.E. Flat -3db -6db etc... so it would be worth checking if your crossovers have that function as well and see how they are set up.

Also were the original speakers sounding OK or was there a problem with them hence the upgrade?

Nice speakers BTW

I am getting the wiring looked at this week.

The original speakers sounded ok. But im a bit of an audiophile and found them somewhat lifeless.

They ended upsounding worse due to the wiring issue. Big Cry
