Rear seat centre armrest latch

The rear seat centre armrest has a small storage box/tray, the cover of which is secured by a latch at its front edge. The latch on my car has somehow come away. I found it loose in the aforementioned box/tray. Placed there by person or persons unknown (grandsons I guess Rolling Eyes ) Before I break something, does anyone know how (or if) the cover comes apart so I can refit the latch? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

If its come loss without the latch having any damage to it - will it not just go back in to place with a bit of force Question BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

No damage. There appears to be a "dog" inside the slot but levering with a thin blade leaves no room to insert the latch. I guess the cover top and bottom halves need to be separated to get at the innards. I suppose there will be a spring in there somewhere too. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Fixed it! Using a plastic "gap opener" (blade) and a butter knife Embarassed , I prized apart the 2 halves of the cover at each corner. This action distorted the cover slightly to withdraw the "dog" sufficiently to insert the latch. Job's a good un! Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
