I don't get it... dealers..?

Whats with car dealers that don't have their 2nd hand car prices showing on their website. What good is POA when I am looking around for a car. I know my budget and have a good idea what I am looking for but when I land on a car dealers webpage displaying lots of cars I might be interested in they are all shown as POA... If I have to waste my time getting on the phone to enquire about the prices for each of the 100+ cars they are showing for sale I'll be at it until next Christmas. They might be 15 minutes from the M25 and they might have loads listed but it's no good to man nor beast if there's no prices listed. Back to Landrover's main site I guess or Autotrader....

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue

Hartwells of Oxford (I have no affiliation to them at all) have quite a few in at the moment due to other dealers changing hands so give their website a try, all show the price. Bought mine there recently that's how I know of them.

They are a long way from Brussels though . Confused Joanne

POA they look at what car you arrive in and then adjust the prices accordingly depending on how rich they think you are.
I would never go and look at anything that was advertised in that way.

Another thing I hate are vehicles priced, for instance, £19999 as its lot cheaper than £20000 Rolling Eyes

Distance from Brussels isn't a problem. We are on the way home this summer so anywhere from Dover up to Manchester is a contender Thumbs Up

Just looked at Hartwell link - listing shows 7 freelanders for sale - 4 are marked as sold so they haven't got 7 they have got 3 Rolling Eyes makes POA seem like a good idea Laughing

My rant about prices is when they are listed as £20k+VAT.If searching up to 20k I want a 20k car not one for 24k!!!

2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Some dealers are of the opinion that if they can just get you on the phone they will somehow 'convince' you to buy from them since they are such legendary sales people. Rolling with laughter

Well it doesn't work for me because I simply don't call them. Mr. Green

Just one from the other side of the coin, if dealers put prices on the web etc. then the competition would simply advertise slightly less and people wouldn't ring them anyway, can't win seemingly.

Nothing wrong with POA, if you really want the car you will ring, in the dental industry most prices are quoted as monthly repayments with all sorts of shenanagins going on, big corporates are the worst offenders, they will quote silly lease rates taking into account capital allowances etc

I HATE POA, price for many is an integral important piece of information in the search for a car. I need that and other info before I even want to speak to a dealer so that I can short list similar cars or ignore them completely as overpriced .
If I see a POA then they don't have my business.

I look at the list price, the spec and colour that way I know what I can afford

POA on a car, means I need to contact them to ask, but before I do that I'll consider the ones showing the price first, the main thing is though if the POA price is at a dealer that has a bad rep in my book, such as LPR I won't even bother Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeah, I understand the point of Gekko!

POA.... I just refuse to enquire. The last time I was looking for a car (and I have bought many), I got fed up with salesman asking me what I drive before I even got through the door of the showroom!
One salesman scratched his head when I asked back "is your house a bungalow, detached or semi-detached and how many bedrooms has it'
Basically got fed up with asking what car I had, as if it was a deal breaker?
With the SD4 I told the Land Rover dealer what I wanted for my A4 convertible (it was a very nice one), and how much I was prepared to pay for the land Rover- taking into consideration it was 17:30 on a Saturday, I gave him 10 minutes to make the deal, he made the deal!

Geckko, you decide what you want to pay, there is a dealer out there who wants your money! 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'

SD4 HSE Fuji White (my car): sidesteps, door protection
Golf 2.0 tdi White (wife's car)
Triumph Stag (my 1975 V8 toy - 37,600 miles... Just started its 2nd restoration... had it since 1986)

Tiguan Summit (gone, but nice car)
Porsche Boxster (gone, it was too fast)
SLK (gone, did not like it - lost loads £s)
Discovery Cairngorm (gone,very tractor like)
+ loads of other cars
