Dash mounted video camera

Has anyone found a way to mount a video camera on the dashboard. I have a Hama Ball & Socket Head and a Ergorest® MultiTripod this is attached to a bar with two suction cups on either side of the centre speaker, but the surface is not good enough. I also have a suction mount that goes directly onto the windscreen, but the video camera has to be upside down due angle of the windscreen !

Any sugestions ? GS TD4 All Black

For one trip I did I got a normal tripod put two legs down the side of the rear console and the 3rd leg forward into the cup holders. Two ratchet strap round the front seat bolts held the tripod firmly in place. This worked really well and there was hardly any vibration noticeable on the recording.

Downside is the 3rd leg got in the way a touch and I needed a few rags wrapped around the legs of the tripod in case they marked the interior. However it was a cheap option.

Those mounts offered in the link above look like they'd work but I wonder if you could mount your camcorder right way up on the windscreen using them? I'd say you'd have to mount the camera off the passengers door window and shoot off to the side a bit. Would give a unique view I suppose. 2007 TD4 SE
