United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Dynamic Auto Santorini Black

Have to say have thought about doing this on mine a few times, would be useful to hide some of the bits I carry around everyday in the spare wheel well.

If anyone is interested in swapping a spare wheel and jack (think its just a steel one) for a repair kit let me know.

You're thinking about this way too much I'm afraid. You're thinking about 50kg's ish (or whatever the spare weighs) on a 2 ton plus car. It's less than 3%. That doesn't translate into 3% decrease in consumption. Taking a dump before you drive would help too if you're trying this hard! Laughing

By the way, you know if you have a flat and fill with sealant, you can't repair the tyre. So suppose you get a repairable puncture on a 2000 mile old £160 tyre, then you've spent what you've saved in fuel plus much more on a new tyre. And stopping a puncture with sealant and not replacing as soon as possible is an even worse idea.

The only time I would agree with you is if the car was loaded to the max and over the maximum gross weight, but that's for legal reasons, not negligible to none existent economy gains. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
