roof bars without door clamp

Does anybody know if there are roof bars that can be fitted without rails and without the clamp that goes into the door seal?
Thanks.

I think this is what you are after although it doesnt seem to be listed for the FL2? maybe give them a call, it may be that the door type clamps are the only option.

Thanks taztastic. I might be wrong here but I don't there there is a fitting kit to connect the 753 system onto a freelander. If I go through the fit guide on the Thule web site I don't get the option for the 753 when FL2 has been selected.

I found the same, it may be worth looking at what is actually on the car, at the end of the day it appears to be nothing more than a threaded hole for fitment of the Thule foot? Maybe something that can be easily modded to fit unless anyone knows a genuine reason why they dont list it as an option.
I would be interested in a direct fit myself. Cars covered in snow at present or i would go and look.

That's exactly what I was after freediesel.
I've just sent an email to Whispbar direct to see if they can give an update on the kit and it's availability. Will report back when I hear !
Otherwise will look into the Thule option as you suggest taz.

Just heard back and it doesn't seem like there is going to be a kit for directly connecting the roof bars without the door clamp :

Good morning Tim,
We are the UK distributors for Whispbar products, so your enquiry has been passed on to us. The only Whispbar system available in Europe for the Land Rover Freelander 2 (2006 onwards) without roof rails is the system including adapter kit PRK455 that clamps round the door frames. This has proved to be a very popular system with our customers, and providing the bars are fitted according to the manufacturer's instructions there is no risk of damage to the vehicle, water ingress, or any other issues. If you have any further queries, please contact us.

Best wishes

The Roof Box Company
