Hi all, I recently swapped my Toyota Mr2 mk3 roadster, for a 08 plate Freelander 2 XS, due to a very pregnant wife, the apparent blizzard that was supposed to rival the one in the 1960'S and living at the bottom of a slippery cul-de-sac. It was a great move and i'm loving it! I have a question regarding the front heated window. The actual glass has the heater wires in it, but there is no switch to operate it. It has the program front window, then a blank, then the heated rear. I'm a bit confused. looking in the manual it looks like it should have the heated front screen button in the middle. Do you think it should come on automatically or could it be the case that the previous owner had to replace the screen and that was the only one available, if this is the case how difficult would it be to have it wired up? also it is not the XS with heated seats, which i think came in on the 09 plate? many thanks

I dont recall a 08 XS having a heated screen in the gallery the brouchure says heated screen came with the SE and above, unless there was a winter pack added

Not heard of anyone installing a heated screen before due to the cost of the screen itself, I suppose it might be feasible Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi Shortstuff, if you would like to pm me your full VIN number I will look up the build spec for your car and from that will be able to see if it was fitted from new.
There is the possibility that a new screen was fitted with heater matrix by mistake or they didnt have the correct one or that the wrong one was sent

I had my 04 plate Freelander wired up for the heated windscreen 6 years ago by a dealer at the quoted cost of £325. It took the dealer two days as the wiring was not there and then tried to charge me £450, only paid the quote price in the end.

Thanks everyone, do you think it would be worth having a look at the fuse spurs. if there is a fuse in the heated front screen place, should that tell me if the wiring would be in place?

I have a 2010 GS and have been working on it to change engine and have been looking for wiring and the relay for heater plugs etc so have been noseying around.
take the battery cover off and take a look high up inside to the right of the battery,(right as you are standingwith bonnet up). Mine has an electrical connector on the bulkhead with largish cables on pucka LR bracket. I am going to guess that it is the harness wiring for the screen. My car has nothing connected.
