United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Orkney Grey
Our cars are Brilliant

A couple of years ago following some heavy snow I bottled out from descending the hill in the picture which leads to my house. Following a LR Experience day I now have the confidence and today cruised down on HDC whilst still retaining my dignity.

Bow down to Freelander2's capabilities.

So what's the process then? You're at the top of it, stationary, and you turn on HDC, then what?

How do you stop the car building up speed which I thought it would still do even with HDC engaged?

HDC will apply the breaks to do its best to keep it at about 5mph, but even with it on if its icy then nothing much to prevent it speeding up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

.... and then he parks in front of the new hedge opening, perhaps as a stop for the next vehicle Laughing
I think I would have pulled forward a little out of the line of fire.

It was Gareth on Disco3 blackvue that caught it, but agree if one went that way, then others may follow

Shame his blackvue recording time ran out on impact, so missed a few frames, (I think they record in 5 min segments) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I you use the HDC button next to the gear lever it works in all settings on manual and also works in neutral first and second and reverse providing you are not trying to engage it at too fast a speed, in which case it will engage when you slow down enough. Thumbs Up

Used HDC in anger today, for the first time. It was on a gentle greenlane covered with about 4 inches of snow, even on very road based tyres,I was impressed although after driving Series's and Discoveries since the age of 11 (48 now) it seemed to be going awfully fast without low range!
Just need to get some decent tyres on it,without SWMBO noticing.
