Oil change service message after 1 year service

Sorry - pretty sure this has been answered before, but no luck with search.

I had the first ever one year service done 2 weeks ago, exactly 11 months after taking delivery of the car.

This morning it gives me a message "oil service required, contact dealer"

Is this a case of the dealer just messing up the service reset? Can I reset that myself or do I have to suffer the pain of another dealer visit?

Thanks for advice!

On the MY11 and onwards there are two service indicators, one is the countdown and one is the oil service, it looks like they have reset the standard service countdown but not the oil service indicator, as far as I know you can reset the standard service indicator but not the oil service indicator, so sadly it's a visit to the dealer. The oil service indicator is linked to the oil quality and DPF Regeneration so you may want to get it reset sooner than later as it may throw up the Limp Mode faults, I'm not saying that the oil hasn't been changed, just they haven't reset the indicator, I've ran with mine for a week or so no problems though.

2011 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Lago Grey

I had the same problem. As noted above there are two service indicators> When I went back to the dealrer they tried re-setting it again manually but they then had to take the car to their computer to re-set the oil service indicator. There excuse was that mine was the 1st MY11 they had serviced, which might have been right. I am sorry but by now your dealer should have known to deal with this. Try and get something out of them for your trouble!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

Mine came on (Oil Service - Visit Dealer) on Christmas Eve...bizarre as its only 3 months old! It went in to Stratstone's Cippenham today and was reset whilst I waited...it had just chalked up 5000 miles and as part of the health check, it needed 1/2 pint of oil (£7 + vat). Not bad oil consumption methinks.

Nice cup of Earl Grey in a china cup whilst I waited...and had it returned washed and vacuumed when they bought it round to the Reception an hour later...top marks! Foraging near Gaydon....

MY12 HSE 2.2 SD4, Sumatra Black - gone after 10 months/43,000 fault-free miles
