19" from kerb

I see that a Welsh council is issuing its parking wardens with tape measures so that any car parked more than 19 inches from the kerb will be issued with a 70 quid fine!. Fair play I think on the bad parking issue but the fine I think is steep. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Good on them, I have seen blue badge holders park on my local main street so far from the kerb try must have just stopped driving and got out

It's a PITA when they do it both sides of the road and then there's the drivers who are oblivious to the single yellows and then shout at the wardens for issuing a ticket

Dave is 19 inches tall so he can easily test his parking, if he can lie down between kerb and wheel its time to re-climb the step ladders and move his car further in At work

It's high time some politicians grew a pair and re-evaluate the fines in general, most are too lenient and simply ignored.
£70 for parking yet only £60 for driving with a phone, makes no sense to me.

I agree with the politicians re-evaluating the fines. I take my lad to school in a morning on the way to work, I always park very close to the kerb in a considerate manor. There is a childminder who has an Volvo XC90, she always looks to abandon it a couple of feet from the kerb making the narrow road more narrow! I'm not sure how the council can enforce such rules? Would it be a civil fine or is there a law relating to it, I read the article in the Express bit it didnt go into great detail.

Years ago I worked as a Land Surveyor, one company I worked for would calibrate tape measures and rulers every 6 months, would this be away of apealing against such a fee? "Can I see the calibration certificate of the tape measure?" Whistle Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

May not be a law but impeding the normal flow of traffic is a good one to use. Used for folks going dog slow on the motorway or hogging the middle/outside lane.

Also it could be taken as driving without due care and attention. Due care being to other users of the road and causing them to take avoiding action that they would not otherwise need to take, IE forced to squeeze through tight spaces they shouldn't have to.

I think having the fine a s % of the persons income or their spouses should take affect. IE if a WAG that has no income is sent the ticket and claims no income then the income of her partner is examined. This will stir up a hornets nest for all the rich folk who are sheltering their incomes and pretending to be on low incomes to stay under tax thresholds and such like Whistle Whistle FL2 work pilot!

19" from kerb

The Law does not specify an exact amount of how far, (or near in either feet /inches meter,s/millimeters)one should park from the kerb, might it be good fun to have one owns measuring stick/device in whatever calibrated distance handy in the door pocket .???

Does this mean EVERY Local Authority /Council can choose their own distance from kerb???

sound like one for the !st of APRIL ..

the one I like is 19 inches = 0.0026041666667 of a cable .!!

Nice round figure 19 then Rolling Eyes, its not even a nice metric figure either 482.6mm

Wonder how they arrived at that? probably the width of a drain cover.

We just need someone to park at 18 7/8" and then see how they go about it? I mean it really depends on how squidgy your tyres are, if you see a warden measuring just get a fat lady to jump in and squash your tyres out a bit Laughing

Or what would happen if you didnt park square to the kerb? Say one wheel was 20 inch from the kerb, the other 18 inch? Would they average it out? Whistle Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
