Too many stickies in the maintenance section

Hi there,

Just an observation, but is there not a lot of stickies on the first page of the maintenance section of the forum? Nearly half of the first page is stickies. The last post in one of the threads is from early 2010 and many last posts from 2011.

Can I suggest that a single sticky thread be made at the top, within the first post contains links to each of the sticky threads. The thread then gets locked.

That would still place access to all the sticky thread topics in one place, but wouldn't take up all the first page of the section. The most common topcis would still filter upto the to the front page as they are updated regularly, and the ones which don't get updated filter down the pages but are still quickly access from the single sticky thread.

See what you mean, haven't the time to copy and link all the threads into one place though

When I have time I'll look into something, which might include just removing most of the sticky's and letting the search page find the items

I think that removing the stickys will just lead to more posts, where people either can't be bothered searching, or give up digging through the number of vaugly search related items.

For me either leave the stickys, or create a sub folder with them in, and a link on the top of the main folder. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

done a list today and posted it in a thread at the top of the page,

i have locked the thread, so if anyone wants a sticky to be made, then please PM the admin team with a link or press the red triangle in the thread you wish to add and then add comments under 'other'

If your happy with this, then i will start to remove the stick status of the offending threads to let them mingle away Thumbs Up

step backwards!, now all the ex sticky things will gradually mingle in amongst all the other posts, instead of all being one page one of the list.
this will lead to more questions and more new posts about covered issues At work

I hate forums where the default answer to any question is "do a search" - takes the same effort to direct people to the right place to have a look... Smile

CG, all the sticky thread are linked in to the list thread at the top of the page

I have added, years 1 to 4 for service costs too

so people searching should be able to still find the sticky, instead of taking up whole first page, they are now in a single thread, taking up one line

When people post into one of these threads the thread will rotate itself back to the top of the first page, so popular threads will remain on there as before
