Have you ever been 'off-road' in your Freelander 2?

I'm running this same poll on DISCO3 and RRSPORT so hopefully we'll get some interesting results.

Importantly, don't just consider 'off-road' as the standard lake-plunging and 45 degree rock-cliff descending. For example, if you've ever engaged TR to help you through slippy grass or a wet field, cleared a protruding obstacle on the ground thanks to the high ground clearence, waded to get you through the summer floods or relied on the brilliant 4wd system to keep you safe on an icy rural road then, in my books, you've been off road.

Cheers everyone, get voting Thumbs Up "CY from DISCO3"

Mrs George drove onto our lawn this morning when she thought no-one was watching her manoeuvre, does that count?

The latest adventure was travelling down a steep, narrow, twisting gravel rd into the gorge below.

Noticed the new Mitsubishi outlander a few meters further down was driving slowly and touching his brakes alot more than me.

The Freelander 2 is still a pleasure to drive on the road though with a mix of admiring and jealousy looks from others.

I feel that this vehicle commands respect from other road/off road users.

Yes.....

Took mine on the "3 Loch's Drive" last year, whilst it wasn't muddy it was still "off-road" for about 7 miles............ and yes, I did pay my £2 to drive on there, must have been the only one who did coz it made a loud "clang" when it hit the bottom of the tin Rolling with laughter ______________________

Does ice and deep snow covererd mountain tracks count Question
At least a couple of attempts to get very close to our mountain chalet we had to use the Terrain Responce snow setting and turn off Traction Control to get out of the deep loose snow Very Happy Any conventional car would never have gotten as far Exclamation I suppose this may count as 'off-road' Confused 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Dropped our lass off at the train station yesterday, and then went off to play. Did about 20 miles of green lanes and two fords. Then off to marshal on the Robin hood rally last night and did another 6 miles through the forest. Thumbs Up

Been off road? Oh yes !

First experience off road with 200 miles on the clock, mud, ruts and snow on that occasion, Jan 07.

Since then been on an number of organized events as well as multiple solo excursions. Had the wheels off half a dozen times to clean up.

Was taken to one side by technician at dealership and asked 'have you been off road with it?' to which I replied 'if you've had the car on the lift I think you know the answer'. Ended up having a great conversation with him discussing the real off road ability of the vehicle. He said it was great to see a car being used 'properly'.

Despite my best attempts to clean underneath there's no disguising the fact the car has been off road, although have not suffered any body damage at all, however underneath the multiple heat shields etc certainly do show the signs of having been off road and the engine bay has mud splattered in places that will never ever be cleaned. Biggest problem off road is that the fuel tank is the first thing to hit the ground if you test the ground clearance ... hhmmmm!

The car is fantastic off road, given that it does not have a low ratio box it is amazingly capable. If you've not tried it off road you are really missing out on a huge 'grin' factor. Go get your wheels dirty !

Just to say that I have got mine dirty a few times, but fairly light stuff over all.

A couple of weeks ago I did the full day at Solihull plant. I negotiated this in with my purchase Wink

The morning was spent looking around the manufacturing plant (which was superb!) and the afternoon I drove a Disco and a Defender alone with an instructor. Both were most impressive I have to say. The tracks there were so full of water it was rushing up over the bonnet on both vehicles. They don't build the FL2 at Solihull so they had none there to drive which I thought was surprising and a little disappointing...though I did drive an auto FL2 down at Eastnor Castle and its capabilities were beyond mine Shocked

I would love to do more in my area, but really don't want to scratch it up lol. Anyone with some dirty grounds we could all use?! Hell, I'd pay!

There are quite a few fields around me that I could just pull off into to, but the sheer thought of getting stuck and being caught red faced is enough to deter...plus it just isn't polite Wink
