Navsat/PTI/Audio - Factory vs. Aftermarket

Hi All,

I am from Switzerland and a soon to be first time LR owner. I am trying to decide on the specs for my FL2 order. Unfortunately our local dealer is not particularly helpful (to say the least), but since I have made up my mind on brand and model, I'll just "overlook" this behavior. I'd like to put in my order asap in order to get it by mid-year the latest (Td4 Auto).

I am quite clear on most options, but am undecided on the Audio/Infotainment/NavSat/PTI front. Maybe some existing owner or UK resident who has actually seen/played with the car can help me out.

I am trying to decide whether to get the Premium Audio, DVD Navsat and PTI or a good after-market solution. I'd like to pick what's best as far as features/convenience/car integration and not what's cheapest (a high end after-market solution doesn't cost less). If the FL2 systems can deliver 80% of what I need, I'd be happy to compromise on the remaining 20% for the sake of car integration (steering wheel commands, displays, etc). I hate dangling cables and anything that doesn't match my car's interior (and my wife even more so Wink ).

I've managed to google most information, but I still have a list of things I'd love some feedback on:

Premium Audio / Audio Connectivity Module:
-When fitted, is the Audio Connectivity Module an additional source or will it disable the built-in aux port?
-Will music mute during incoming calls and Navsat guidance?
-Can it display title/artist info on MP3 CDs?

Navsat:
-Which countries are covered? Any links or pointers?
-Does it use Navteq or Teleatlas data.
Edit: Found a link that answers the above two questions:
http://www.landrover.com/assets/gb/en/Vehi..._Guide.pdf

-Can the screen be used (via extra hardware) as a monitor while stationary?

PTI (I currently use a Nokia 616 HF with Sim access profile)
-Is the audio quality of the PTI good (for both calling parties)?
-Can the PTI store more than 1 name per contact?
-Do voice commands work properly?

General
-Is the space for the factory fitted standard audio system "double-din" size?

Many questions, I know. Thanks a lot for any feedback and pointers.

Alex

Smile

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Hi Alex

I can't answer all questions, but I can tell you that for a built in system the sat nav is good, but there are things that after sale solutions can do better such as speed cameras and being more up to date. The pti system was good with the phone book accessible unlike all other LR products connected by BT, but I'm not sure about multiple contacts.

The stereo will mute with the phone and satnav guidance. I don't know what an ipod is some I can't answer your Aux questions Wink D4 HSE Lux for me
FL2 HSE Zermatt & Alpacca for the wife now gone
Skoda Yeti L&K for the wife.
