fitting a towbar to a hst

when a towbar is fitted to a hst does the rear valance below the bumper need to be cut, also is there a jackplug in the boot area for the towbar wiring.
it will only be used to carry 2 mountain bikes so do i have to fit electrics"by law".

Some towbars need the bumper cut, some don't. My detachable witter does NOT need the bumper to be cut but the fixed LR does.

Is a reasonably cheap website for no LR Towbars. Click on More Info and it should tell you if a bumper cut is needed,

Best of luck,

Chris

There is a module to plug into but its behind the plastic panel to the left as you look forwards the front of the vehicle. I'd go for a genuine 13 pin LR electrics module if i were you Smile

All pretty straight forward to fit on your driveway - even easier if you had a ramp.

LR may need to programme your ECU to tell it you have towing electrics installed.

I stopped reading at that point, if you can't do it properly don't do it at all, scotch locks are an accident waiting to happen.

I picked up a secondhand 13 pin electrics (inc. module) off the 'bay for £70 delivered -plugged it in, paid £50 for LR to program something and it all worked Smile

Happy days Smile
