United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Rimini Red

My first car was a Trojan (Heinkel) bubble car that was being used as a play pen by a neighbours' children. He decided to scrap it so I offered to take it away. I pushed it home and parked it on the drive. My dad came home and was cross that someone had dumped a scrap car on the drive. I was only 16 so I spent a summer getting it road ready and MOT'd having removed coal from the petrol tank - an interesting take on using fossil fuels!

I asked a girl out and she was impressd that I would pick her up in my own car. I duly arrived and she refused to get in it. Her loss - look what she could have been riding round in now !

It was a horror to drive with only a single cylinder 200cc engine and a crash gearbox with no reverse. I sold it to a student who was setting off round the world in it. I never saw him or the bubble car again - he must have inadvertantly parked it up against a wall an dnot been able to get out the front or reverse. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.
- GCS Hawke - Sports, BRG, Vulcan 2.1 inj'. My toy - built it myself in 2001.

Specially the first one. It was my granddads old car that I drove for 500mi before it landed on its roof in a ditch.
Multipla got destroyed by some idiot security guard who crashed into it Sad Was quite a fun car for roadtrips.

Ah, good to see someone else was daft enough to own an Austin A35! Smile

My list of cars doesn't seem that long considering my advanced years but then I realised that I don't change cars that often. I had the Defender for 10 years and the Disco for 7 years. John

brilliant and interesting list.

Wow! Thanks Iain. It's a lifetime (since 1960) of never being able to afford a new car, sometimes not ANY car! I've had some form of powered two wheeler more or less constantly. Passed my car test in my dad's A30 and my bike test on a Vespa 125, both in 1961. Some new bikes - Vespa, Honda 50, Kawasaki W650 and ZRX 1200 and the latest Sym 200 (really a 171).

The Ford van was my first four-wheeler, whilst at college in 1966. Two front seats and a matress in the back!! 1,172cc side valve engine with three gears. I wish I still had the Isetta - left hand drive air-cooled 300cc two-seater with surprising room for luggage on the rear shelf! The Subaru had the nicest petrol engine - 1600cc flat four; the BMW 530d was the best diesel and the Kawasaki W650 my favourite overall bike (although I really liked the 1979 BMW R100RT).

In that time I've changed gear with right foot, left foot, right hand and left hand as well as semi-automatic, full auto and CVT auto. Clutch with left foot or left hand. Brakes with either foot and both hands! Currently left foot for brake, right for throttle in our cars, right hand for brake and throttle and left hand for brake on the scoot. Makes me laugh when people say you shouldn't brake with your left foot in an auto car 'cos you might get confused Whistle

The only constant is that I've always hated and rarely used public transport! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne
