PTC recall

I am new to the Freelander world.......

The Mrs who is the main driver of the freelander has been complaining how long it takes to warm up, which having driven it this morning it does take around 5 minutes or so to warm up.......... I just happened to see a post referring to Topix so i registered and it shows this outstanding campaign:

P014 - ELECTRIC BOOSTER HEATER (PTC) OPERATION

is this something i need to get done??? and will this help with the long warm up period???

Your help would be much appreciated Thumbs Up

i tried the "prog" button this morning but it did not seem to improve the warm up?? Confused Black FL2

is the recall necessary and something i should get sorted?? Black FL2

There was a fuse removed when I had mine done onto old fl2 might be worth checking the fuse is in place and intact, not sure which fuse it is but it will be on here somewhere

Prog is no miracle button, neither is the PTC it's just slightly warmer as per my video on you tube showing heating up times wih or without the prog button Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yes - if LR is to be belived :-

from the VOSA site re P014

Concern : FIRE MAY OCCUR

Description : A short circuit may occur in the PTC heater which could result in the battery discharging, a smell from hot/melted components or in the worst case fire.

Remedial Action : Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the PTC heater and condensation drain tube with the latest specification components

The PTC heater will not "heat" your car up just takes the chill off of the air untill the engine takes over, well on my last two anyway. If you put your hand over the screen vent you should feel the air is not cold but not hot.
