2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
MOT for LHD Freelander

I have a LHD 08 plate HSE Diesel with standard Xenon lights. The car is European Spec (KM/H speedo etc). I need to get it MOT'd and wondered if anyone could let me know what I would have to do in order that it can pas the MOT - I would think the lights need to be altered. Can anyone suggest what I have to do / how to do it?, many thanks

I suggest you speak to a MOT test centre and they could let you know what if anything is required

Head lights will need to have the deflected beam in the correct direction, some countries don't have rear fog lamps but guess yours does.
For an Mot you can use a beam corrector and this will be mentioned on an MOT advise form.

Thanks for this, very helpful. I was wondering if anyone had any photos of how to change from LHD to RHD for the Xenons?

Many thanks,

I'm pretty sure it's in the handbook. Requires the headlamps to be removed and a lever moved.

Thanks for that - unfortunately my car is Ukrainian Specification so the Handbook is in Ukrainian which I don't speak. Dont suppose anyone knows where I can download a UK version for an HSE with Xenon lights, do they?

Many thanks,

Very easy - 10mins per headlight by removing the headlights from the bumper.
1) To do this you remove the two locking bolts on top of the headlights.
2) Before attempting to pull the headlight unit out of the bumper housing unlock - by lifting up - the long black plastic vertical locking lever that locks the headlight to its bottom holding plate- By carefull - this is plastic (but they are only £1.50 each if you break it)
3) Having released that black lever you can now pull forward the headlight out of the bumper.
4) Now remove the large black plastic "weather protection" cover from the headlights. It simply clicks off on 4 tabs (2 top 2 bottom)
5) Inside you will now see a small metal lever at the side of the xenon bulb housing. If your car is already set to LHD move the lever in the opposite direction for RHD. The distance this lever travels is not far - just push it as far as it goes.
6) That's it. Now reverse the above to put the headlight back safely and secured.

Idea All of the above is in the OWNER'S MANUAL under the section headed LIGHTING - ADJUSTING HEADLAMPS FOR DRIVING OVERSEAS, page numbers may/do differ from OM to OM - ours is on pages 49, and 54 & 55. No language skills required as LR provide diagrams in their Owner's Manuals - even Ukrainian ones Idea
