Hi all,

Just had the rear diff replaced on my 07 FL2 SE. This comes after having the dashboard replaced last year.

Anyone else encountered issues with diff or dashboard (discoloured after 6 months).

Aussie sun mate. I can clearly make out the air bag on the passenger side dash of my 08 model. What were the symptoms of the rear diff trouble? I have given mine a hiding and it still seems ok except the electric seats don't work anymore.

First had the diff, then the Haldex and fianlly another new diff. In the states none were available from Nov 09 to Jan of 10. Had many weeks with a loaner. I was told if the diff goes out there is a very high probrability that a Haldex will also be needed.

They now have a fixing kit to replace the differiential, so they must realise that there is a problem with this, I had to pay £500 for this as it was out of warrenty. My argument is if they know it's a problem why aren't they recalling them?  Steve Partridge

When in your opinion would you say is in time Alex?? mine had done 50k miles before Q106 and I come out of warranty on Monday should i be worried??? Are there any particular circumstances that are more likely to overload the bearing, e.g. GGS or Sand TR Modes? stop start motoring etc? Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

I believe that the bearing, with the old firmware, is working near its loading's limits.
Some will withstand the load, some wont. And of course, the failure rate, in this situation, is much greater.
So, if you haven't had problems until now, and you've done the Q106, you won't have.
Even LR said that the firmware should be changed only if you've had the bearing changed.
If not, leave it that way... Strange decision, but, who knows, maybe there are other things at work here...

As a result of your posting I could check with the main dealer that is repairing my rear diff on the 8th Nov that they are updating the firmware for the Haldex unit.

They confirmed they would be doing it and were surprised that I knew
